Inspections

The periodic inspections to which lifting equipment must be subjected

L.L.D. 81/08 establishes the conduct that the employer must implement with regard to work equipment for lifting loads and persons such as aerial platforms (Elevating Work Platforms) and Forklifts. The Decree lays down and sanctions the rules concerning the obligation to train the operators in charge of such lifting devices, the PPE that are indispensable in their use, and the periodic checks necessary to assess the condition of the equipment. The obligations arising from the verification of lifting equipment refer to all stages of the equipment's life from its commissioning to its cessation of service. Leader can assist you in implementing all the steps required by the decree so that you can regularise every aspect of your aerial platform. We take care of organising periodic inspections for lifting equipment, forklifts and aerial platforms, and document checks.

CE-marked aerial platforms

The documents required to submit the aerial platform for periodic inspection are:

  • Communication of COMMISSIONING of the vehicle to the INAIL/ISPESL department responsible for the area.
  • Booklet of the periodic checks to which the aerial platform was subjected or the First Check Report.
  • EC Declaration of Conformity and Control Register filled out according to the instructions provided by the manufacturer of the machine.
  • Instruction manual for the lifting equipment
  • Licence authorising use of the vehicle and training in the use of PPE Category III regarding safety belts.

Other accessory documents may facilitate inspection by the inspection body such as:

  • Periodical verification reports following the first verification.
  • Scope indications
  • Planned work areas
  • Certification by the hirer of the state of preservation of the vehicle and the maintenance carried out.
  • Certification that at the time of transfer, hire or purchase the vehicle complied with all safety requirements.

  • Instruction manual

Additional documents are:

  • Periodic inspection reports
  • Indications of load capacity/size/weight of the structure if applicable.
  • Areas of operation of the vehicle
  • Documentation of the state of preservation and maintenance of the vehicle in the event of hire or transfer.
  • Certificate stating that the vehicle complied with all safety requirements at the time of hire, transfer or purchase.
